Written By: mc98 on 10/06/18 at 4:04 pm

I've been seeing these type of girls at my colleges. Do you see them in your school/college?

Thats not tumblr girl, Stripes on the side have been back since late 2016, and the colored lens thing has been in since 2017

Tumblr isn't really as big as it was years ago, as far as Orange goes you are going to see it more, Prada made it popular for 2019

I guess I'll call that type of style "The Aestheticas". Those shade of orange and yellow are becoming common lately.

The first time I've seen those girls was June 2017.

Did you make a new thread? I swear I posted in a "Tumblr Girl" thread but I can't find it.

Anyway, I've been seeing the oversized tops (usually sweaters) since 2016, and the aviator glasses since 2017. It is very late 2010s.

I've seen oversized sweaters a little earlier than that. Probably since around 2015, maybe even late 2014.

Regarding aviator eyeglasses, I've been seeing them since around September or October of 2017.

That is where I think they got their inspiration from too. It usually goes with mom jeans too.

They're called ART hoes, and they've been everywhere on ig since late 2017. I think Clairo's aesthetic is like this.

I've been seeing that for about as long as I've been on Instagram (almost five years). Instagram is the perfect venue for young women (and sometimes men) who fancy themselves supermodels to have pics after filtered pics taken of themselves for likes and adoration.  ::)

That's quite a misogynist comment. I see nothing trashy about those photos and how would you know who they are and what they're like?

I'm seeing striped sweaters in stores lately. I'm also seeing baggy athletic wear on sale. Nothing wrong with being comfortable, but looks like fashion is going in the overly casual direction again.  :-\\

Not to sound stupid, but is this part of some post-hipster cultural movement?

Yeah I've seen these girls around my campus as well. They exhibit a bit of a hipster vibe, but they're a bit... different, to say the least. They have the individualistic characteristics of hipsters (like my days back in high school ;D), but that also makes them a bit more noticeably materialistic. Along with being a bit hedonistic as well. The pictures above sorta prove my point; that sort of weird 2010s ambiance of going against the fray, while simultaneously embracing their (at times) intrinsic natural self of also being into the materialism that hipsters staunchly fought against. Overall, this trend certainly feels different from the hipster trend of the early-mid 2010s & maybe a sign of things to come for the 2020s. It also seems to be the first truly stereotypical Gen Z sorta trendbut lets not try to go down that rabbit hole ;D
