Subject: Was the 2010s lackuster in new fads compared to the 2000s?

Written By: StrangeShape on 11/01/18 at 5:42 pm

I feel like the 2010s lacked a lot of creativity.

2000s Introduced a lot of new videogames, movies, fads, music... 2010s had barely the half of it.

YES. That's exactly how I've been feeling. Everything is too similar in the 2010s. Things were a lot more interesting in both the 90s and 2000s when there was more variety. The 2020s don't have to be perfect (no decade is), but I think it would benefit by having more variety.

In areas, yes. Completely, no.

People said that about the 2000s.  A decade from now, we'll be able to look back at the 2010s with more perspective.  Most of the sheesh will have faded into obscurity and most people will remember mostly the good aspects of culture.  Just like people now do with the 2000s.

If there is one thing that sets the 2010s apart from previous decades it's the fact technology has made the monoculture less essential than it once was.  Yes, you still have your mainstream pop music and mainstream movies, but the Internet has made the underground far more accessible than it once was.

2017 was probably the year with most relevant stuff of the 2010s decade, but weirdly enough 2018 is probably the year with the less relevant stuff of the story of the 2010s decade.

Sure, we might diferenciate the 2010s better when we're in like late 2020s and see how much the world has changed.
It's true that people also said the 2000s had no identidy and were lackuster, but still the 2010s don't have much going on even compared to the 2000s.
Most relevant stuff of the 2010s happened in 2016 and 2017, the other years don't have much going on as far i know.

Well I would say pretty much yeah I feel the the 10s were a little more less creative than the 00s but the 10s have roots to like 2009 I think the most fun and creative part if this decade was like 2010-2012 the early 10s but I think things starting picking up around 2017 but yeah this decade still for the most part is lack luster atleast in the pop culture department.

Very easy complain with not much foundation to it. This thread seems like complain for the sake of complaining, which is a pretty big fad on boards.

There were lots of different fads this year alone. I personally even think there are too much and can't really keep up.

Also the OP of this thread seem to contradict what they previously said?
