2019 Predictions Thread

With every new year comes new things, one of those things is new year predictions. This is the last year of the 2010s decade, the decade of minimalist excess in pop culture, social media celebrities, hyper-polarized opinions/politics, fake news, and probably the last era where the Millennial generation dominated youth pop culture. 2019 could either be the closing or accumulation of all that. My vote's on both. What are your predictions?

* Global economy will have a major slowdown at the end of the year, if not contract.
* Artificial meat will be a huge topic by the end of the year.
* There will be a new Brexit referendum.
* Oil prices will continue to be low, and will be even lower by the end of the year.
* The new mainline Pokémon game for Switch will release.
* The Canadian Liberals will win the autumn election.
* The North Korea "deal" will begin to fall apart as China eases sanctions.
* Katy Perry will go back to making Walmart-friendly music and it will be a hit (this is her year!)
* Electric car sales will pick up.
* Facebook will begin to decline and will be dogged by more scandals.
* Facebook will launch WhatsApp Pay to compete with Paypal and Amazon Pay.
* YouTube will begin to decline.

Let's see how it goes :P

I only seen 1 thread related to 2019 and people post similar threads all the time without closing it so... All these threads closing for no reason is why the forum is flopping tbh

My prediction for 2019 is that 75% of these predictions don’t come true.

I have been thinking about this and here are mine-as usual, political:

-Homeland Security Secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen will leave post.
-More indictments-this time for people by the name of Trump (not necessarily the president).
-Mueller will finish his investigation.
-House will start impeachment hearings (probably by summer or fall).

I may come up with others later.

I think the British housing market will start a protracted decline sometime this year after 20 years of excessive growth. This will be welcomed news by people under 40, and potentially the only good thing to come from Brexit.

In sports, Dodgers could do well again this year. If they reach the World Series, maybe they'll win one game.

Ok, everyone. It is time to look back at your predictions and see how well you did.

As for me?

I have been thinking about this and here are mine-as usual, political:

-Homeland Security Secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen will leave post. Yup
-More indictments-this time for people by the name of Trump (not necessarily the president). Nope
-Mueller will finish his investigation. Yup
-House will start impeachment hearings (probably by summer or fall). Yup

I may come up with others later.

So, I missed one. Not too bad.

* Global economy will have a major slowdown at the end of the year, if not contract. Yup
* Artificial meat will be a huge topic by the end of the year. Yup. I'm actually surprised I got this right, it could have easily flopped like earlier attempts.
* There will be a new Brexit referendum. Nope
* Oil prices will continue to be low, and will be even lower by the end of the year. Yup.
* The new mainline Pokémon game for Switch will release. Yup.
* The Canadian Liberals will win the autumn election. Yup.
* The North Korea "deal" will begin to fall apart as China eases sanctions. Yup. China and Russia have appealed to the UN to ease sanctions.
* Katy Perry will go back to making Walmart-friendly music and it will be a hit (this is her year!) She finally got one big hit but she also had several flops
* Electric car sales will pick up. This one was too obvious
* Facebook will begin to decline and will be dogged by more scandals. There were scandals but no decline
* Facebook will launch WhatsApp Pay to compete with Paypal and Amazon Pay. Facebook announced their new digital currency Libra but is yet to release it
* YouTube will begin to decline. Nope

Let's see how it goes :P

I would say not too bad. I think I made mostly safe predictions though.

I'm not sure about rising gas prices and I'm not sure about more kiosks in fast food restaurants even though that should happen in 2020 and 2021.

They did do well, winning 106 regular season games. But in the postseason they were eliminated in the first round... by the team that ultimately won it all.
