Subject: The Internet in the early 2010s

Written By: cowboy on 03/10/19 at 2:33 pm

I'm glad Adobe Flash has gone away. However, nowadays most websites look very similar, like every car make uses similar website templates, especially official car brand websites. ;D I also don't like how the tablet-friendly sites now look on a PC screen (in the late 2000s/early 2010s most sites were centered in the middle).

I totally forgot some of these tracks  :o: http://web.archive.org/web/20120801142318/http://www.mtv.com/music/
http://web.archive.org/web/20120930023835/http://www.mtv.com/music/
I remember most of the 2013 ones though: http://web.archive.org/web/20130915033935/http://www.mtv.com/music/ OK, I know 2013 is more like the mid 2010s, but it still was culturally in between. ;)

The 2011 design of IMDb was only slightly different than today  :D: http://web.archive.org/web/20111001060745/http://www.imdb.com/
The IMDB message boards as I remember them  :-https://web.archive.org/web/20120919182255im_/http://images.cwtv.com/images/cw/shows/90210.jpghttps://web.archive.org/web/20120919182255im_/http://images.cwtv.com/images/cw/shows/the-vampire-diaries.jpg

ABC: https://web.archive.org/web/20110228180432/http://abc.go.com/shows

Some car websites:

Most of the other sites I visisted back then look relatively the same. What about you? Do you have some websites from the early 2010s that you miss? Post links from the Internet Archive to them here! :)

I prefer the older style of web pages rather than the ones we have today.

you have to be born in 2005 the latest to qualify as an early 2010s kid and remember the internet of that time

Flash games were still popular IIRC.

I do, too, especially when it comes to Youtube. Even the idea that the internet could become functionally worse hadn't occurred to me.

YoVille was the sh!t. There was a whole lot you could do, you didn't realize it. The site literally felt like a college party, bruh.

^Wasn't there also Farmville?
I miss when Yahoo! Answers and Google Groups were big. Yahoo! was deciding between red and purple logo. Yahoo! and MSN had better home pages. Especially MSN had news and other cool stuff, now they're just a news aggregator. Skype was better before Microsoft started ruining it. I miss the pre-Instagram era.

MSN changed their page to make it more newsworthy.

Yeah, I also remember playing FarmVille when I was 5, when my dad introduced me to it  ;D Him and my sister also showed me Fish world, Empires & Allies, Pet Society, which I was ADDICTED to. But besides that, I remember playing Club Penguin and miniclip as a little kid, and I tried to get the highest scores in miniclip as possible :D With Club Penguin, there were lots of fun events that made the game fun, before Disney-themed events that ruined the game.

My mom still has her tablet from 2010. I guess it's not very useful now even though it is still working.  :)

Sweet! What is it?

My dad once had an iPhone 4 when it first came out, but he gave it to me around 2013, with iOS 6, and I remember playing a lot of angry birds, temple run, paper toss, and talking tom on my phone, in which I used until 2015, when I got my 5c. It got slow, but I still have it

My tablet for a the last four years packed up on me, and now when I am away from home I struggle with my phone.
