Subject: What will replace the undercut, fade and Manbun?

Written By: GameXcaper on 05/11/19 at 6:30 am

I think it will be long hair for men. Right now and for the last few years or so it has been short hair like the first two-thirds of the 20th century, but I think that it will be longer hair like the last third of the 20th century. While we're at it, what about women's hairstyles as well?

Nothing will replace the ManBun.  It is here to stay.

Hopefully What I post here next is not hijacking the thread. There is a dude that I work with who sports a Manbun. But he is getting ready to switch sides and get converted into a woman.  :o

When he does the switch, is it still a Manbun? Or will it just be a plain old Bun? ???

Hopefully the 2014 pompadour trend comes back. It didn't last long enough!

The 2010s are the 1950s played in reverse so I'm not wrong.

Is that the hairstyle of ex-footballer David Beckham?

Never heard the term pompadour to refer to a men's hairstyle before.  Looks to be something like an Elvis quiff?

It refers to the front part of the hair being swept up off the face and sort of pouffed up.

I don't have enough hair to get a crewcut.

Or Flowbee cuts. With inevitably some disasters. Earlier this year they were sold out. Now you can get them but they limit 1 per customer. They were always around $100 new. I got mine from Goodwill about 10 years ago in like new condition for $3, original box, book, oil, all parts. And had wanted to try it someday. This year was that time and it worked quite well as long as I had patience.

I used to have a crewcut back during the late 1980's and after that my hair was thinning.

Curtain and curly/wave (perm) hair. The undercut is still around though, I think it will stick around as a professional/older haircut.

Yeah. The Flowbee was based on the principle that every hair on your head should be the same length.  8)

Pretty much. It has spacers where you can vary the length, and wedges where you can blend the lengths. But it’s tricky and really easy to screw up. I’m not too picky so I think it would be cool to get good at.

I had to look up what a Flowbee is. We don’t have them in the UK. I have used hair clippers on my son and on my husband. You get different comb attachments to cut different length hair and also scissors and a comb. Getting the fade between shorter sides and back and the longer hair on top is tricky.

The first time I cut my son’s hair he said it was okay, and at least he wouldn’t be going out anywhere!

I hope Zac Efron's 2000s hairdo or longer makes a comeback and that becomes a staple for men's hair rather than IMO the sometimes hideous and otherwise bland short back and sides that dominates men's fashion.

I really like how people want to be rebellious (I suspect why the undercut was even a thing because it didn't seem to be much of a thing except groups of alt people in the past), but I personally just find it ugly on pretty much anyone.

I got my last haircut in September and I don't intend on getting any cuts outside of a trim in around 2.5 years (male).
