Subject: Gen Z are saving Shopping Malls

Written By: mc98 on 06/29/19 at 9:44 pm

They're not just an online generation after all. It's actually true though, I went to my local mall yesterday and there were plenty of teens and college aged people there.

Makes sense. Malls are the best places for teens to hangout at.

If you've been reading the "People stopped going to the mall in 2008" thread you would realize it's me who's saving the mall

It feels the same like it did 10 years ago

I think that the increasingly negative perception of social networks for causing drama and being intrusive regarding privacy might have played a part in this. In my experience, I think it's too soon to call, at least where I live here in the UK.

Back then 30 or 40 years ago, people were shopping in malls more often then they do now.

Yeah, I haven't noticed any mall around here getting more active, but I do hope that this is accurate. The thing I dislike more than anything about this decade is the number of malls and major stores being closed due to the rise of online shopping. Plus, with downloading stuff like video games being bigger, buying actual copies of stuff looks like it's going out of style too, which I also dislike.

That's the world we're living in these days, stores are closing because of online shopping and I think online shopping is winning over instead of going to a store itself because people think it's quicker and faster. My Father shops for bathroom toiletries such as shampoos, mousse, toothpaste and body wash soap just to name a few.

out of curiosity, why do you dislike that?

Because I like to own actual copies of the stuff that I buy. That might mostly be because I grew up during the '90s and early '00s, when downloading video games wasn't a thing and you actually had to buy a copy of the game, but I've always preferred it that way.

I find it to be the younger generations that shop online, I am still old hat and prefer to shop in the shops.
