Subject: Food in the 2020s

Written By: LyricBoy on 12/28/19 at 12:54 pm

Do you think that real meat and alcoholic beverages will become extinct by the end of the 2020s?

Could the Impossible Burger end up devastating the meat industry? ???

Not sure about "real meat", but if Prohibition taught us anything, alcoholic beverages will most likely NOT be extinct.

Was the thread title meant to be "Food in the 2020s"?

I was going to make a 2020 prediction thread and one of the predictions was going to be "abstaining from alcohol becomes a big trend".

I don't see meat consumption dropping in the 2020s. Meat alternatives will rise in popularity but won't pose a threat to the meat industry just yet.

I think in The 2020's we're going to be eating more plant based foods and just about everything spicy such as sriracha, habanero and other hot sauces since that's what people like.

Alcohol going extinct?  My area in recent years has exploded with new pubs, breweries, and wineries, and continues to do so.  I wonder if there will ever be a saturation point but I would have expected that awhile go.  Sometimes it seems alcohol is the only guaranteed way to have a thriving business.

I agree with more plant based foods, and foods made from alternative sources.  With so many people on various diets or other restrictions, food allergies, trying to find healthier alternatives.  Also I for one am tired (and scared) of the nonstop recalls on food.  I think more people are going to seek out other sources or locally grown products when possible.

If people want to enjoy themselves they probably want to reach for the alcohol.

I could see it happening. Given the rise of the whole vegan thing.
