It seems like 2020 would be the obvious choice, but I wanted to see your thoughts. It seems lately like the election years have been completely polarized and full of tragic events.

2020 objectively, but 2016 personally, although it is noteworthy that I'm much more mentally stable now than I was then.
If I was in the same mental state I was in 2016 today in 2020, with all that is going on, I may have killed myself.

Honestly, there shouldn't be any debate on this question.
At least most people around the world in 2016 didn't get their lives impeded by a global and life-changing pandemic, unlike 2020.

I really hate 2016, it truly was an unpleasant time that I definitely do not wish coming back to even if it wasn't for a good social life.
But even that putrid year is much better than 2020.

I can't evaluate 2020 yet and not for another 6 months will I be able to do so.

Same. Breathing's one of the few good things to come out in 2020. ;D
