Subject: The mid 10(2014-2015)s: renaissance period of the 2010s?

Written By: NightmareFarm on 06/15/21 at 5:06 pm

Music: Electropop died out the year before the mid 10s began but Mumble Rap/Trap and modern pop(what I mean by modern is the type of pop in the late 10s with very similar production elements) hadn't became mainstream yet.

Gaming: Next gen had just begun and gaming was in a transitional state with PS3/360 on it's way out and PS4/Xbox One on it's way in. The Wii U was also a thing but hardly relevant and seems like a precursor to the Switch which was released and became popular in the late 10s.

Manga: Naruto ended in 2014, DBS started in 2015. Both of which are arguably the most popular anime/manga of all time. The only one left out of the big three was one piece. AoT was on a hiatus and anime that got popular in the late 10s such as My Hero Academia hadn't got popular yet.

Memes: Memes were in a weird experimental renaissance phase where the old rage comics and top text/bottom text memes became stale and dated but the modern style of memes we know now that started in 2016 hadn't taken off yet. In this time frame you had various types of memes get popular such as Doge, MLG, John Cena, Shia LeBeouf motivational speech and the start of cringe culture.

Politics: Left wing dominant but the right wing started regaining influence with gamergate and Trump's announcement of his presidential campaign.

Anyone else agree or not?

A bridge period which doesn't really have an identity of it's own.

Renaissance as in a revival of or renewed interest in something.

To quote Bob Dylan:

"The times they are a-changin'"

and

"The answer my friend is blowing in the wind."

...now what was said when Bob Dylan went electric?
