Yeah, right now I don't think anyone is interested in revisiting the 2010s anymore. Will make the eventual 2010s nostalgia craze that may rise by the 2030s all the more surprising.

Honestly, I think I would remember the early 2010s quite fondly. Sure, we may have had Occupy Wall Street and the Arab Spring, but at least there was civil political discourse in the Western world unlike the later parts of the decade. Not only that, but there was great, diverse music that I enjoyed like Gangnam Style, Somebody You Used to Know, TiK ToK, etc. And I'll also miss the shows that I've watched such as Regular Show, Adventure Time, Victorious, among many others.

Mid 2010s (2014-2016) were pretty cool to me. I enjoyed some Vines as a teen (I didn't know any better) and there was still great mainstream music from artists like Adele and Bruno Mars (except for the stupid Whip/Nae Nae) :)

But the late 2010s overall can rot. I had to rely more to music that was outside of the mainstream charts because the pop scene (especially around 2018-19) was so bland, repetitive, and unremarkable. >:(

It does suck.

I bought a used 2009 Chevy Malibu in October of 2010, and I remember thinking at the time that it could very well be the last gasoline powered car I ever owned.

But I traded it in last April for a newer Impala.  ;D

In the early 2010s, 2020 seemed so far away... I honestly thought things would be really different and futuristic. But it really isn't. If people are not nitpicking and being honest with themselves, they can admit there really isn't that big of a difference between today and the early 2010s. Not talking about politics but technologically speaking and things like culture and stuff. It's not a different world like I thought it would be. It still feels as if we are in the 2010s decade, and many things that were popular in the early 2010s are still popular today. This was definitely not the case in 2010 when comparing 2010 to the early 2000s which were way different. I know many younger people will probably attack me for saying that but I think it's the truth lol.

Asia has always been futuristic no matter what era though. That stuff was possible in Japan and Shanghai, they have money for it and they use the money they have for futuristic tech.

I'm basically the same age as you (with the added benefit of being in high school before smartphones) and it's becoming increasingly obvious smartphones changed our way of life waaaaay more than Internet enabled computers ever did (the latter feels like a novelty in retrospect rather than a game changer)

Well, I'm not so sure if it'll be the standout year of the decade if almost everyone's stuck at home and not enjoying the pop culture trends outside of it.

The songs that came out in 2019 will probably be remembered as 2020 songs because right now my radio station is just repeating songs that were released in late 2019. And of course the songs that came out in early 2020 too. Either way 2020 will stand out and be remembered given everything that's going on and the election and all that.

Yeah, most of the hit songs are 2019 leftovers, like "Roxanne" by Arizona Zervas or Roddy Ricch. They are probably not recording a lot of music this year, so most of music will probably be on repeat.

Someone always says the decade sucks at the start of the decade before it unravels. In 2029 or 2030, you will be saying the same thing. It seems as if things go down a notch with each new age.

It will never be forgotten. This pandemic is a historic event and will be in the history books with all the other historic events and years like 1918 and 2001.

The 2020's is probably going to be one of those decades that starts out terribly and ends optimistically. If that's the case then it's going to be a reverse 1920s.

It postulated that as cities grew in the past, we got trains, then streetcars, and then personal cars, and this allowed people to commute from further distances away and kept housing costs low. But since cars, there has been nothing, no new innovation in locomotion, and there's only so far you can live away from work.

But work from home just might be that locomotive revolution that kills off insane housing prices and crazy commute times. And this crisis came just in time to help with that.

Well to be honest the 1920s also started pretty bad with the flu pandemic and Europe still in ruins from the war. So hopefully the next years will mirror how the 1920s eventually panned out, even if that means something horrific will happen in 2029 too ;D

I also think companies utilizing work-at-home jobs more could be the next revolution of employment. Also, there's a possibility of more automation with robots manufacturing goods and other items in factories. But they could be replacing human factory workers, though.  :(

Same here in Atlanta. The biggest problem we were facing here before the virus hit was the traffic and lack of mass transit options. Actually the worst thing about this year for me personally is unrelated to the virus. It's a situation me and my family are going through. Other than that, I like the working from home part and I'm not much for social gatherings anyway. The one disappointment is the Tokyo Olympics getting postponed, and also some movies getting delayed.

I feel like every time I log into this forum I always read about a new " years cycle".

1988 was the year the AIDS outbreak started to go out of control, and 2004 was the year the avian flu and SARS outbreaks were peaking, so 2020 kind of is like both.
