Subject: 02/02/2020

Today is a palindrome date!  February 2, 2020 or 02/02/2020 -> 02022020, which when reversed is 02022020.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7958327/02-02-2020-palindrome-909-years-time-date-forwards-backwards-century.html

In a couple of years we will also have 2/22/22 (or 22/2/22) and in one evening 202 years from now we will have

Yeah, I also noticed that as well. That's honestly intriguing, and humanity won't see one until everyone on here at this point is dead (12/12/2121 is the next date).

Don't forget that on December 2nd of next year, the date will also be palindromic (that is, when you write the month number before the day number): 12/02/2021.

Then there won't be another such date until March 2nd 2030.

That is, if you write only the last two digits of the year.

Also, that designation would apply to February 11th of this year, per the US format.

It was on 20th February 2020 that the Hubei health authority in China reported that 115 more people died of the coronavirus in Hubei province on Thursday, raising the death toll in the epicenter since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak to 2,144. Hubei authorities confirmed an additional 411 cases of the virus in Hubei on Thursday. The total number of cases in the epicenter of the outbreak is now 62,442. By the numbers: The Hubei report brings the total number of deaths in mainland China to at least 2,233. The global death toll is at least 2,244, with 11 deaths outside of mainland China. Japan has reported three deaths from the coronavirus, while Hong Kong and Iran have each reported two deaths from coronavirus. Taiwan, the Philippines, South Korea and France have each reported one death. The global number of confirmed coronavirus cases now exceeds 76,154 with the vast majority of cases in mainland China.

On that date the virus had not hit the UK, and we did not know how much we would be involved in the following months.

A designation that will be used on December 2nd this year in the US.

No offence, but the day-before-month format confuses me, particularly when written numerically. I mean, I'm fine with writing the day before month when the month is spelled out or abbreviated (such as 17 Feb 2021), since it is often used on formal letters. But numerically, it doesn't resonate with me.

I switched to using 17 Feb ‘21 or similar when I lived in the US as it kept the date order I was familiar with, but most other people could understand what I meant.

Of course in computer file storage terms you ought to use year/month/day format to keep them in date order
