I never thought in 2019 that I would be able to put out this thread this early, but 2020 is going so crazy already that it feels already like an appropriate time to post this.

^These would probably fade once the crisis is over, put they're still part of what makes 2020 super distinct from the 2010s already.

Yeah honestly, I feel like it's really too early to say since we're only 4 months into the new decade. I really wouldn't expect to be able to tell until about 2021 or 2022, or at least when this pandemic is over and the affects of is wearing off.

Other than the pandemic, we still have late 2010s carryovers like TikTok, trap rap, athleisure, reggaeton, Airpods, PC culture, ripped jeans and relatable memes.

I feel like we're almost in the early 2020s culture, but just not quite there yet.

Of these things I would keep PC culture. I would get rid of DRM-locked streaming entirely. Almost everything else here I'd change or remove but that would be too much to ask for.

Pretty much everything happening on the news right now is unique to the 2020s.  ;D We're in a brand new decade it honestly doesn't feel like the 2010s anymore.

With current events now, I agree with you. But pop culture now is in a transitional state. It's not late 2010s nor early 2020s. What we have so far on the charts is ambient alt-pop, trap and retro revivals.

ABSOLUTELY. It feels like we're in the BIGGEST transitional period since 2008, may even be bigger than that depending on how 2021 turns out... Also regarding Sman's comments, SOME of those could carry over to the early 2020s culture... we shall see!!

I think people are missing the bigger picture when they say the "only" thing unique to the 2020s is the coronavirus, the quarantines, and resulting changes to pop culture. That is, I think you're missing that this is going to have ripple effects on at least the rest of the year, if not for years to come. I think this may end up being a transformative event from this point forward of how pop culture will be disseminated, what it will focus on, and even how changes are made.

Time will tell of course, but this may prove to be the impactful moment of the decade.
