I loved watching the original back then.

I was thinking maybe it should be set to the same interval prior to the current times as the original. I was thinking maybe it should be set in the 80s but then I looked it up and did the math.

as a middle-class suburban teenager growing up during the late 1960s and early '70s.

Being in the late 80s and early 90s, the original was based on a time 20 years prior. So the new one would be set in the year 2000.

Yikes

I'm sure you don't mean that the way it came out.

I don't see what the problem is. Look at what they did with One Day At A Time. They redid it using a Cuban-American family and I think they did it VERY well. In fact, in many ways I like the newer version better. (Well, it does have Rita Moreno so that is definitely a major bonus.)

As for Wonder Years, I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. It could be OUTSTANDING or it could be a total dud-all depends on the writing, acting, etc. I just hope that they don't recycle the old scripts. I think if they just recycle the old scripts, it will be a total dud.

Sorry if it came out the way you thought I do apologize but I'll give it a shot like I gave The all new One Day At A Time at first, some reboots I hated at first but then I warmed up to it later on.

I just checked it’s set in the same time period as the original(Late 60s). Except this time it’s with a Black family

I wish they kept the interval and set it in the Late 90s/Early 2000s.  :-[ kinda bummed they didn’t go in that direction

It's good to something from 1988 coming back. I've been nostalgic for that year lately.

The new One Day At A Time had a daughter who was a lesbian and the original from 1979-1984 never had daughters who were lesbians, the new one gave me mixed feelings.

Time Life released a DVD box set in 2014 (and cheaper season sets) after managing to clear virtually every song the show ever used.

Yep. We're that old.

Actually, a show about going from the Bush years to the Obama years could be interesting.

Joe bit it six years ago. Time to mix things up, maybe with a cover version by Snoop Dogg or Eminem.
