Subject: Classic Rock - It Ain’t Dead Yet

Written By: LyricBoy on 07/25/20 at 7:43 am

Nielsen Music  polling for the first half of 2020 shows that rock ‘n’ roll is here to stay. And... four of the top five artists streamed online are “classic era” bands.  8)

Of all genres, only Country&Western, and Rock, showed increases in online streaming volume this year. Pop, rap, r&b, etc all dropped.

Also while total, digital, and physical album sales are down by 14% to 20%, vinyl album sales are up by an impressive 11.2%.  :o

Well, that's understandable. It's like the old saying goes, "you can't beat the classics."

But new "rock" however (with bands like Imagine Dragons and Maroon 5), is more poppy and electronic than actual guitar-playing rock.

Apparently there is some disagreement as to what defines music as “classic” rock.
