Subject: People Aren't Tired of The Early 2020s Yet

Written By: Slim95 on 04/02/22 at 9:08 pm

I feel like in 2023 it will start to feel long in the tooth though. As of now, people are still very much into the early '20s and don't feel like changing the mood. I guess it makes sense since eras generally last about 4 years. So in 2023, people will be ready for something new. But we're not there quite yet like the music is still very much early '20s for example.

Depending on the definition one uses for the early 20s, I think many people are already tired of it and the transition has already begun. The pandemic, masks, supply chain issues, inflation, war in Ukraine - these are all hallmarks of the early 2020s in that, Ukraine excepted, they call defined 2020 and 2021. People are transitioning out of thr first two and desperate to get the second two over with.

2022 I can easily see being a transition year between the 2020/2021 world and the mid 2020s world.

Why would they? The early 2020s have barely started.

Also, the supply chain issues and inflation are pretty much part and parcel to the pandemic; until we reach herd immunity, those are likely to continue. Waiting it out won't fix them, only mass vaccination will.

Then we might have a recession/housing bubble burst on top of everything else. If not in 2022 it will probably be within the next few years. Yes, I'm pretty tired of the early 2020's. It's like just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, the next year tops the year before. Culturally/musically I think the Mid 2020's will be more electro/EDM based.

"Have barely started"

Wow, such an incorrect statement given we're over 2 years into it already.

I’m going to ignore your unkind tone and remind you that you were once a proponent of the position that in 2020 we were still in the 2010s culture.

I wasn't though.. Never. I've always believed 2020 was 2020s culture. You must be confusing me for someone else.

I didn't think it was you either. In fact I remember you were posting about how 2020's culture started on time since March 2020, and arguing against ones that said it was still the late 2010's.

Yeah I even predicted there would be a big change in 2020 and it would be a transitional year before 2020 even began.

And the pandemic was the "change" we weren't expecting.
