Subject: The Star Wars Holiday Special

Written By: X on 01/02/02 at 06:11 p.m.

Does anyone else here remember seeing "The Star Wars Holiday Special" that aired in the late 70s? It was made up of both live-action and animated segments. The main plot concerned Chewbacca returning to his home planet. I believe it was shown only once and never again. I hope they release it on home video someday. I'd love to see it again!

you can find video tape copies of it (bootlegs of the original broadcast) at comic conventions and places like ebay.

Bea Arthur's performance shouldn't be missed (or watched)

Fact:

Carrie Fisher was so coked-up, it was surprising she managed not to do worse. She wasn't the only one who was under the influence either.  :P

Unless you'd still get mad about it and we'd just do without the laughter. I wouldn't mind at all!  ;D

LOLOL.......I'm finally over her  ;).  Watching it as an adult is pretty funny.  She did appear to be really wasted.  Let me know if anyone finds a copy somewhere.

Still have not seen this, although it is said to have the first appearance of my namesake, Boba Fett.

I've been out bid twice for a copy, and even then, I'm just not that trusting about a tape of a TV broadcast from 20+yrs ago.  It could be a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a poor reception.   :-/

Someday....

This and Hardware Wars!! :D

The worst thing about this show was that the called Christmas "Lights' Day", like they never heard of Jesus or they chose to make it a nothing holiday similar to St. Patricks' Day. Carrie Fisher was a passable singer, considering the material she was "Forced" to sing. :-/

Thankfully, when the special first aired, our power went out after the first half hour and didn't come back until the wee hours of the morning.

X, I hope you don't go posting a link or anything, as you have in the past. Keep in mind that this is a site visited by young'uns and they don't need to be reading these kinds of offers in reference to nudes, porn, etc. I hope you don't take this as a personal attack. It's just me being concerned for the welfare of others who visit and frequent the site.  ;)

I'm with Hairspray on that one. Let's just hope he doesn't post one to each of us... knowing my luck it'll be a virus anyway.

If you are looking for information on the Star Wars Holiday Special.  Lucas Arts released a CD-computer game called "Star Wars: Behind the Magic...The Insider's Guide to Stars Wars" . The game was released in 2000 before the movie  release of "Episode One".  The game has info about Star Wars releases including the Stars Wars Holiday Special. The game even has pictures of Chewbaca's family
