I just heard on the news last night that singer and musician Warren Zevon is suffering from inoperable lung cancer. :'( :'( :'(

For those of you who might not remember who he is...

His most famous hit, the very catchy tune "Werewolves Of London", hit the U.S. charts in 1978 and made it to #21.  Wicked Lester used a line from this song for a while as his signature...

Thank-you Karen for posting this. I kept seeing something go by on the "running news" at the bottom of the Fox news screen, but kept missing it.

A truly great songwriter, with a gift for humor. Although best known for "Werewolves" his greatest songs were never on singles: Carmelita, Accidentally Like a Martyr, Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner and Veracruz to name just a few.

This as truly sad news. :'(

I'm sorry to hear that.

The only songs of his I was aware of out here were "Werewolves" and "Exciteable Boy" (or was that an album ?) - he just wasn't well known here  :(

This is always sad news.....

The irony is that those were two very mediocre songs, that did not show the moving lyrical and musical style he is capable of..... :(

At least he's kept his sense of humor.  Pulled this off of the Yahoo news site:

HOLLYWOOD (Reuters) - They really said it -- notable quotes from the news:

"I'm OK with it, but it'll be a drag if I don't make it till the next James Bond movie comes out."

-- singer/songwriter WARREN ZEVON, on his terminal lung cancer.

It is sad to know that a talented singer/songwriter like Zevon could die any second now. :'(
But he was brave in coming out with his story before the tabloids could cheapen it with their rumor mills. A class act. :)
