Subject: Need help with song

Hey,
Does anyone remember a single that went something like "aw, can I have some peanut butter" in a young voice, then someone else says "of course you can", then it repeated...I remember hearing this on the radio when I was like 9 or 10, which would have been late 70s.  I'm thinking it's similar to Gap Band and Dazz Band and whatnot...anyone?

You're thinking of "Peanut Butter" by Twennynine featuring Lenny White, a minor hit here in the U.S. in the Winter of '80. (You're right, they were a r&b/funk band.) It was off the group's 1979 album, Best of Friends. Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S. I have the cassette myself... :-)

Thanks!  I have found it listed on two compilations in case you want to track it down on CD.  Billboard Hot R&B - 1980 (found on CDNow.com) and Street Jams - Back 2 The Old Skool Vol 1 (listed as the album on the file I found).

thanks again...
