Subject: Genesis, the best Prog Rock band of the 70's???

Written By: Gabble_Ratchet on 09/27/02 at 06:03 a.m.

Massive prog rock fan, citing Genesis as ny favourite act. However, I have started to listen to a host of other bands recently (Gentle Giant, ELP, Van Der Graaf Generator to name but a few) and am starting to change my views.

I would welcome any comments from others on other bands to listen too or, like me, do you agree with my Genesis stance????

I am a big Genesis fan, but I think I would have to say that Pink Floyd was the best progressive-rock band of the 70's.  Another band I would recommend is the Electric Light Orchestra.  They did some fantastic music back then! 8)

Never been a huge fan of prog rock, nor the work of Genesis, pre-1978. However, like CeramicsFanatic, I've always very much enjoyed ELO... :-)

Another prog rock band of the '70s/'80s that I highly recommend is Barclay James Harvest...

What about Rush? They were pretty progressive...

Agree that Pink Floyd is WAY up on the list, love Genesis.

Yes...hmmm... never really got it.

Oh!  Just occurred to me...

What about Alan Parsons Project...  they broke some plateaus back then.
