I have a slew of them. The one that pops into my head at the moment is "Disco Fire". I have Rock ones, Ballad ones and even a Country one somewhere. Thanks for the memories!  :)

I had a ton of them but remembering that they "Chopped" all the songs in half....I tossed them out recently.

Next time ask us here if we'd like them.... K?

We'd be glad to take them off your hands - Especially since you'd be tossing them out because that means FREE minus the shipping and handling.  ;D  ;)

:-*  You are so right Hairspray.  I just saw a listing for K-tel albums for sale internationally...they were asking up to $28.00 for them.  Somebody must like them.
You are right...the US and Canadian K-tel albums tended to edit the music.  For some reason the UK albums and other E European copies did very little to cutting the music.

Oh believe me, I would've gladly hung onto them but they were worn out...not nearly playable.  My older sister wore them out while I listened to her Beatle LP's ;)

Hey I've got heaps too. I still buy them from second hand stoes etc. I also buy the "Sounds like...." you know the ones that had "can you tell the difference between these and the originals? ..." on the cover. They are so bad, that they're good. LOL.

I buy them for the covers too, as they are typical of the 70's bad taste.....and I never throw anything away no matter how bad they sound.

Good memory, CF! ;-) Yep, I've been collecting 'em for 15 years now. I have over 200 on cassette, more than 150 on 8-track, and about 50 on LP (only started collecting 'em on vinyl in the last 2-3 years). That count includes quite a few duplicates in each format, though. About 90% of them are U.S.; most of the rest are Canadian, which I'm also trying to collect, since the track list was almost always completely different, even when the compilation titles and cover art were the same! Also have one or two each from the U.K., Germany, Australia, etc. I've primarily focused on those in all music genres except country, although I've been adding more country titles lately as well...

I also collect the ones made by Ronco and Adam VIII, Ltd., but have nowhere near as many on either, since they released fewer titles over the years (and both were defunct by 1980)...

In K-tel's defense, they always used the shorter "single edits" (i.e., the versions heard on the vinyl 45) of the songs found on their compilations, as opposed to the full-length album cuts or 12" versions (except on those occasional compilations that were made exclusively w/ 12" versions, starting in the mid '80s)...

However, admittedly, the earliest compilations of theirs from the early and mid '70s did chop some songs, in order to make room for more on the album. If you look at those oldest ones, you'll see that they generally have 18-20 songs on them, like you said. But by the late '70s, they were putting fewer songs on each compilation - only about 14-16 - and no longer cutting them short! :-) That practice continued into the '80s, although by 1985, they were putting only about a dozen songs on each album! :-(

Both Ronco and Adam VIII, Ltd. were even more notorious for chopping songs, as they made a habit of it throughout their entire existence! :-(

Ugh! :-( I still see those all the time, too, in all three formats (LP, cassette, 8-track). They're usually on the Pickwick label, or other cheap indies of that era. I avoid them altogether, because yes, IMO, they are that bad, lol...

Amazone BT was as close as I could come to the original font, although it could do with growing and emboldening slightly...
