Subject: long hair song...help please

Written By: debbie on 12/18/02 at 09:54 p.m.

??? I graduated in 79 and for years I have been trying to remember a song I liked.  The only thing I remember is a line about long hair (not Sonny and Cher) it was a slow rock song. Any suggestions.  It drives me crazy not to remember.  Thanks all.

My daughter also graduated in 1979 :o  How old does that make me?  Nevermind.....
I think the song you may be thinking of was by the Cowsills .. something about "give me some hair, long beautiful hair".... It was a humorous bit of a dig against the musical "Hair" which was a bit over the top at the time. I'll see if it is still in the collection of 45's in a box in a closet still waiting for her to come get her high school stuff outta here.   :D  Or you might check it out on Google.com

That's what I was thinking, too. :)

edited to add:  Forgot to mention that the song was a hit in 1969.

There was a band called Five Man Electrical Band  that did a song called "Signs", it was also covered by an 80s hair band I can't remember the name of.
The song featured the lyrics "Long-haired freaky people need not apply"
