Subject: 70's... if I could just go back

Written By: Laurie D. on 01/20/03 at 08:27 p.m.

:) The 70's hold the best memories for me...Disco, bell bottom jeans, leather purses with fringe, sugar frost peach lip gloss, feathered hair, lots of hair spray, Heaven Scent perfume, Peter Frampton, Kiss, Ohio Players, Alice Cooper, Rod Stewart, going steady, high school football games, and oooohhhh the dances afterwards!!!!!! Drinking Southern Comfort, and Schlitz Malt liquor out in a dark field, playing my records....45's & 33's , and daydreaming....  these are just a few memories!  Missing it........

I had a good time in the 70's.  I was a child through most of it but I have a lot of fond memories!  I used to have a huge poster of Parker Stevenson on my wall and I'd sit there and stare at it for hours on end!  LOL!  ;D

I guess that mean that I am smart.  ;)  I didn't have a poster of him-I had one of Starsky and Hutch.

I had Farrah Fawcett and Cheryl Tiegs up in my room. Boston was hanging up too.  Can't remeber who else.  Starsky and Hutch were cool! 8)

Huh.  I had posters of Laurel and Hardy and of W.C. Fields on the wall.  On Friday or Saturday night the local stations had a regular "Comedy for Big Kids" show, and they played all the oldies -- WC Fields, Marx Brothers...   On Sunday Mornings there was "Laurel and Hardy Comedy Hour," and they played all the talkie two reelers.

When I look at pictures of myself in the early 70s, I marvel at the micro-mini skirts I wore.  If they had gotten any shorter, you'd have called them a blouse.  Only the young are so brave.   :D

Do I remeber those. Being a high school boy back then, one couldn't help but be a perv! And I mean that in the classiest sense. ;)

Ah, to be young and a perv...wasn't life grand then?!  And didn't you just hate it when fashion decreed that hemlines must be lowered later that decade?   ;)

I had Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy and David Cassidy and my favorite on the ceiling over my bed was....
Vinnie Barbarino of course!! :-*
And looking back I think I may have had a thing for Robbie Benson too.  Also had Donnie Osmond.  Guess I was pretty predictable for for a pre-teen girl of the times. :)

I was about to question you about Bobby Sherman. I thought if you had David Cassidy and Donny Osmond, you HAD to have Bobby Sherman, too. Wasn't that the law?

I liked Bobby Sherman's music but don't remember having any posters of him. But I probably did.  At one point I think I probably had every poster from every Teen Beat and my walls looked like I had literally used them as wallpaper. :)

Bobby Sherman is now a EMT.....or paramedic. He is giving back to his community. Anyone catch David Cassidys show in Vegas?  I hear its really good.  He still has it..... :P

I have to admit that David Cassidy did improve with age. Actually, come to think about it, so did Donny Osmond. If you ever get a chance to see him in the video of "Joseph and the Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat", I recommend it. D.O. doesn't have a shirt on throughout most of the film and I must say, he is pretty buff.  ;)

:)

I had Shaun Cassidy on my wall and my sister had Lance Kerwin on her side (we shared a room).

I loved the 70s also.

I still feather my hair.

Saddest part is I didn't want anyone on my wall but finally I am a little bit hip(I hope) Have a picture of Neil Young circa 1970 sitting with guitar and long hair parted in middle. Nearby is a bottle of Schlitz and Stephen Stills guitar case...Far Out. Next I want something good of Pink Floyd. Gilmour's guitar is maybe my favorite

I loved Shaun Cassidy, but I RESPECTED Lance Kerwin!! Remember James at 15? deep.. and what about those Afterschool Specials.. I forget what it was called .. but there was one where he wet his bed, and his mother would hang the sheet out of his bedroom window.. to humiliate him.. A touching tribute to a sensitive problem... :P  and last but not least.. He costarred with Scott Baio in "The Boy Who Drank Too Much" ... deep subject matter for 11 and 12 yr olds.. Lance was under rated as a teen actor.. but probably the most talented.   ;)
