Probably best that no 70s styles are ever resurrected again.

I agree that those styles should never be worn again. :)

But I did have some favorites when I was wearing them.
I had a pair of pink/purple checked hip-hugger, elephant leg pants that were the coolest!! 8)  My mom also had made me several swell :-/ crocheted vests in assorted colors and a few of those shirts with the really big sleeves.  And I begged, begged, begged for a pair of granny boots when I was 11 and got them!!  With my jeans tucked in and my big sleeved shirt, I was the hippest 7th grader around.  ;D

LOL I was too young for tube tops to be shaped any way but just that- a tube.

I am trying to put the rest of those 70's styles behind me. Why oh why were burnt orange and olive green acceptable hues? And another thing:

'nuff said.

Hee Hee!  I agree with the burnt orange & olive green!  YUK!
Especially when it comes to kitchen appliances?  What was with everyone decorating ther kitchens to look like an avacado???

I was also pretty young when I wore tube tops (nothing to hold them up if you know what I mean!

Did anyone used to wear "Toughskins"?  Or garanimals clothes?

I didn't mind the bellbottoms, platform shoes, corduroys, tight jeans, sheer dresses with shoulders exposed on ladies with flowers in their hair, club wear (a la John Travolta in "Saturday Night Fever") on guys, nor did I mind sequins. I like shiny, sparkly things.  ;D

I guess I feel very nostalgic about the 70's as well.

That was my mom's kitchen, and bathroom too!  Plus one of the walls in the living room was covered in smokey mirror tiles.
I remeber the Grranimals clothes but was to old by the time they came out- thankfully!.  I'm sure I must have a coulple pair of toughskins too.

Did anyone besides my sick sense of humor friends and I ever give each other "hot seats"? We used to sneak up behind an unsuspecting soul and hold a Bic lighter to the seat of his jeans until it got "too hot to handle". I know it sounds cruel but the reactions were great and once you had it done to you, you couldn't wait to pull it on the next poor sap. Well, I had a friend, of some girth, who had on a brand new pair of those plaid polyester Sansibelt bell bottoms that every guy from 8 to 80 wore sometime between '71 and '78, whether they will admit it or not. He was bent over in front of my piano at practice one evening and it was like a neon sign flashing "DO IT, DO IT!!". I struck the lighter and it wasn't 5 seconds before, where there once was a large seat of pants, now there appeared a big ol' 8"x8" hole, and needless to say the "moon was full".  ::) Everyone else in the room was cracking up, Danny (my used to be buddy) was grabbing for what once was his back pockets and I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, or run. Moral of the story: polyester is highly flammable, and almost explosive when streched tight! :o

I can handle just about all the fashions of the 70s EXCEPT those dreaded striped pants. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? Diffinately time to call the Fashion Police!

Oh ya - I had one of those light purple shirts that had a zipper that went down just below your chest (you know - with the big round pull loop!!).

I realize that the topic is on "clothes" from the 70's but I had to mention.....Farah Fawcett Hair.  I remember how popular that hairstyle was back then.  Actually, I was a big fan.   ;D

I actually see updated versions of some 70's fashions these days....hip hugger jeans, velour jogging suits, midriff tops, platform shoes, ect.

Clogs!  I had many pairs of Mia clogs and another brand from Sweden whose name escapes me at the moment.

And Levi Cords - the array of colors was intimidating.  I finally chose rust, dove grey and yes that horrific dark olive-y green.

Gauze shirts (preferably in a peasant blouse style or button-down plaid) harmoniously color-coordinated with my cords!

We used to call them "Elephant Bells" although I don't know if it's the actual name. I remember buying jeans and immediately ripping the hems out; we bought them as long as possible and the excess material was worn off as we walked.

Does anyone remember Kelso Earth Shoes? They were designed after a footprint in the sand where the heel is lower than the toe.

Underroos were fun to wear ;)

My mother always dressed me in Grranimals. My 'first day of kindergarten picture' was of me with an orange and yellow striped top with matching orange corderoys..how ugly!
