Subject: sit and spin

Written By: spinner on 02/24/03 at 09:36 p.m.

Anyone remember a sit and spin that was shaped like a bucket seat.  It was red with a white seat that had slots in it to hold on to while you used your foot to propell yourself around?  I would like to find one for my daughter.  I'm guessing this was a late 60's to mid 70's toy.

Yeah, I remember the commercials for that one.  Mid 70's if memory serves me correct.

I thought the "Sit-n-Spin" was that deal where you sat on a plastic circular base and "spun" yourself around by grasping the "stand" in the middle and spinning. ??? Anyway, I loved those '70s toys and games that encouraged physical activity ("Sit-nSpin", "Big Wheel", etc.) You could play daredevil from the age of 5!! ;D

That is exactly what I thought a sit-n-spin toy was also.  Found this picture at www.yesterdayland.  If memory serves me right, I remember seeing these at a K-mart in the 90's.  Or at least a toy very similiar.

I am wondering if this toy was called rock-n-spin maybe.  I have never seen another since I was little.  Like I said, it was like a bucket seat chair that kinda acted like a weeble-wobble.  No searches on the www have helped.   :'(

I remember the Sit n Spin and I also remember some strange thing called a "Green Machine" that was a pedal machine like a Big Wheel but it was ... well... green..... and it was different!

...Yet another thing that I wanted as a kid and never got.  Thanks Mom and Dad. :'(

I had sit n spin when I was little. I had a big wheel too. Big wheels aren't around anymore but I think sit n spin still is.

I actually saw a sit 'n spin last night at Kb Toys.  Updated, of course, with music and lights.  Pretty cool!!!  I purchased a Big Wheel back in the mid-90's for my daughters birthday present.  They could still be around.
