Subject: HELP - 70s Party On Friday Night...

Written By: Criz on 05/12/03 at 12:25 a.m.

...and I need help for stuff my and my girl friends can wear!!

(I so wish it was an 80s party - I have tonnes of things that I could have worn!)

So far - I have the bottom part sorted, flared jeans and wedged, platform strappy shoes (the wedged heel is in black and white gingham!! they're funky ;D)

I was thinking of wearing a black off the shouklder gypsy top, and my black and white bikni top underneath it? I'm not sure if this is 70s enough - but it looks good with the jeans and monochrome shoes!!! Any more ideas for me? Thanx in advance to everyone ;D

I don't know what you should wear, but I'd suggest something in either leather or polyester ;D

And if you haven't done it already, get a disco ball and a fog machine and a strobe light.  Solid 8)

Rice Cube's Advice is great !  8)

Flares weren't worn in the early 70s - bellbottoms were. Are you depicting the early 70s ? You could widen a pair of old flare pants by sewing a triangle piece of fabric for a wide bell (I knew twins in the 70s who did that than LOL !)

What ever you wear will be fine, you have to go with what you can find for Friday.

The horrid cowl neck and gaucho pants might do. (I wore that and now cringe to think of it)..

Don't 4-get to feather and roll or flip your hair on the sides.
Blue Eyeshadow was in.

Depends on what exact year you want. Platform shoes came out towards the early part of the 70s, but I remember wearing them the whole decade ! Well, till 1978.

I wish I could show you my yearbook ! We wore danskin body suit tops - just plain round neckline with Levis or Lee jeans - pucca shell necklaces.

It migt be hard to come up with things we suggest - just go and have a good old time !

Ironed hair in headbands with a peace symbol. White blouse tied in a knot at the waist, or maybe the whole tie-dyed thing. Heart shaped sunglasses, or granny glasses. A little late, but hope you had a fun party!

AuldGrump, you evoked cherished memories in me with those "costume" ideas  :D I distinctly remember when granny glasses came out. My sister ironed her hair back than, too.I resorted to Curl-Free ! 8)
