Subject: DAWN DOLLS

Written By: SEVENTIES_GIRL on 07/02/03 at 11:58 p.m.

Hey Ladies ----- Do you remember Dawn Dolls?  The names of the dolls were:  Dawn, Jessica, Angie, Long Locks, Gary, and there were some other ones I can't remember the names of.

When I was still playing with dolls, I remember that when one of us called the others to come over and play we had to specify if it was going to be "Barbies" or "Dawns," Lol!  I only had Dawn but, the girls next door had every possible doll along with all the cool accessories.  What fun! :D

I remember Dawn Dolls. I had Dawn, Glori, Long Locks, and Angie. I also had the "Dawn Beauty Pagent." It was this little stage that you put the dolls in and they go around. What fun.  ;)

I have a lot of clothes from the "Dawn Doll" era, but I never got the Pageant.  My cousins had the Pageant, so I would bring my Dawn Dolls over to her house and we would to the Pageant.  I believe Dawn Dolls lasted only three years until Matell pulled it from the market.  I used to get my Dawn Dolls at the Ben Franklin Store.

Dawn was not put out by Matel. It was put out by the Topper Toys Co.

I still have my Dawn Dolls to this day.  Topper Toys did make the dolls.  They had a short life on the market as I recall.  Does anyone know why they pulled the dolls from the market?  I recall hearing this on a collectibles program, but they weren't clear on why the dolls were pulled off the market.

I had many of them but I didn't remember the names of all of them. I had the fashion show stage and the convertable that ran on batteries and it had these little disks that you could put in that would determine if the car would go straight or in circles.
