Subject: Zoom

Written By: Ms_Summer on 07/10/03 at 04:01 a.m.

I used to watch Zoom on the PBS station.

I remember some of the names of the  Zoom kids that used to be on there.  There were:  David, Tracey, Nina.

I used to send in for Zoom cards.  It would have a picture of one of the Zoom Kids on the front of the card, then the contents of what you sent in for on the inside of the card.  I wish I would of kept all my Zoom cards.

How about Fannee Doolee?  Fannee Doolee hates books, but she loves to read.

Actually, it was Fannie Dooley LOVES books but hates to read.  ;)

Used to watch it all the time. I remember Bernidette with that butterfly thing she did with her arms.

I also remember, "Say you wake up in the middle of the night. You got an idea that's out of sight. You jump out of bed look around your room. You write it all and send it to Zoom."

I thought Fannie Dooley was spelled Fannee Doolee because wasn't there a song that went:  F A double N double E
D double O L double E.  Do you remember them spelling it out?  Correct me if I am wrong.  I did have the Fannie Dooley thing messed up about the reading.  Thanks for correcting me on that.  Let me know about the spelling of Fannie Dooley.

PBS still runs Zoom, though it is the modern day version with modern day music and features. Many of the original features have been preserved and are still part of the presentation.

Oh, and the correct spelling is "Fanny Dooley".

Taken from the site:

Fanny Dooley doesn't like e-mail, but loves leTTers. ;D

Thanks Hairspray for looking up the correct spelling of Fanny Dooley.  It's been so long ago since I have seen the original Zoom.  I still wish I would of kept my Zoom Cards.

I used to watch Zoom all the time.  I believe the cast changed even during the 70's.  But I remember Neil, Maura, Bernadette and Jay.

What I remember most are the Zoom Guests where they'd get someone to talk about their thing (snowshoe-making or whatever) Fanny Dooley, Ubby Dubby language, The Cat Came Back (song), and those great orange striped rugby shirts.  They filmed in Allston, MA I think.  I feel so old sometimes!

I totally forgot the other names until you brought it up.  Thanks.  I remembered David, Nina and Tracy.  Now there's Neil, Bernadette, Maura and Jay.  I just wish I would of kept those Zoom cards.  I think we got the names of the entire original Zoom cast.

I just looked up the word Fannie Doolie on the computer.  I typed in PBS Zoom 1970's.  They spell it Fannee Doolee.  Correct me if I am wrong.

The correct spelling will evidently be subject of debate forever because I found both spellings on the Zoom website. Go figure.

I was just watching "I Love the 70s" on VH1. In the 73 episode they had Bernidette and Leon. And yes, Bernidette was talking about her butterfly thing.  ;D
