Subject: 70'S PBS TEENAGE SERIES

Written By: dnichols5 on 09/03/03 at 07:47 p.m.

There was a show that we watched in Health class every week that was on the PBS or educational channel (don't know if it was actually called PBS back then or not). It would have such teenage topics as dating, VD, relationship problems, etc. I have been beating my brains out trying to remember the name. Can someone help me. Thanks!

I am trying to remember, but I can't seem to remember the show you are talking about.

The closest I could recall was "Bread And Butterflies".

That was a show from around 1973, and was about 15 minutes for each story, 2 stories per show.  THey tended to be a kind of morality play, and I seem to remember it ending without a solution, then asking you to decide what the chatacter should do (kinda like how "The Lady Or The Tiger" ended).

This was a fairly mature show for the day, and is the closest I can think of.

Thanks for responding. I don't think that is what I'm thinking of though.  The year I watched it would have been approximately the year you're thinking of or 1974-1975. I think it was on PBS in the afternoons, and I think the show was 1/2 hour long and was on one topic all the way through.  Anyone else out there want to take a stab at it?!

I found it - I'm so excited!  The show was called Inside/Out. Does anyone else remember it?

Yes, I remember that one also.  :)

It had the typical cheesy 70's PBS graphics in the intro, with part of the name spinning in circles.

Very similar to B&B, and made about the same time.

I seem to remember one episode in particular now, and that was about a kid dealing with reverse-raceism.  An AMerican kid was spending time in Canada (I forget which Prov), and they were all teasing him because he talked funny, and did not understand French.

I seem to remember in the summer they ran that on the weekdays, after Electric Company, and right before B&B.

I don't know about mid-70's, but I remember that around 1980, there was a 30-min. show called "Freestyle". We watched it in our elementary school library once a week, but it was also on in the late afternoon, either Mon.-Fri. or just on the day they aired it earlier during school time, I forget. Then came that great show "Powerhouse" in 1982.

I remember the series vaguely, didn't it usually come to a paused point where the main character has to make some sacrificial decision, ie. right or wrong?
