Subject: Favorite Fleetwood Mac songs

Written By: HelloKitty76 on 09/24/03 at 08:35 p.m.

I just bought the Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits cd. There are some really good songs on there (even though "I Don't Want to Know" should have been on there). I can't really pick just one favorite so I'm just wondering what your favorites are.

"Hold Me" is my fave.  Other good ones are "Silver Springs" (very underrated!), "Rhiannon", and "Don't Stop".

I like Gypsy, Rhiannon, Tusk, the most - but I find them extremely listenable in general.

And thank gawd for contacts cos there is no way I could afford the $250 to see them in Feb.  I will make do with my freebie backstage pass instead.

I LOVE Landslide...then I like the version of the song Crystal found on the Buckingham/Nicks collaboration from 1973...also:
Little Lies-1987
You & I-1987
Big Love-1987
The Chain-1977
The Ledge-1979
Sara-1979...also, when "Rumours" was released back in 1977 they left the studio version of "Silver Springs" off!  It was on the 45rpm flip-side of "Go Your Own Way" and it's better than the live version....BTW I'm going to see them on October 11th in Denver!  (8th row) :D

I love most of their music, but these two are my favorites:

"You Make Loving Fun"
"Say You Love Me"

Yes, it's a fabulous song!!  I've always thought it should have gone to #1 on the charts instead of "Dreams".  :)

I like 'Little Lies','Everywhere' and 'Seven Wonders'.

But I do think Stevie Nicks's voice grates a little.

Albatross--that's another great one, but they don't have it on my cd, Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits.  :-[

I'm with you on Stevie Nick's voice; although I do think she is a wonderful singer, I think I have a slight preference Christine McVie's, which probably seems odd because she's probably  regarded as having a bit of a washed-out voice.

Oh Well

The Chain

Songbird

I'm not sure if  would see them without Christine in the band.

It'd be nice if there was a legitimate release of Buckingham Nicks on CD.

I always thought this way a Stevie Nicks solo effort.  Nevertheless, it is a great song and is kind of underrated IMO. :D

The song is featured in one of my Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits compilations. I think "Gypsy" is a Stevie Nicks solo, as well as "Stand Back". The latter is the better of the two, IMO.

Billboard lists "Edge Of Seventeen (Just Like The White-Winged Dove)" and "Stand Back" as solo efforts from Stevie Nicks.  "Gypsy" is from Fleetwood Mac.  :)

2. Chain

Wow, thanks for straightening that out for the moment. :)

I'll probably get it all jumbled again as soon as I leave the thread. ;D

"Landslide" and "Dreams" are two of Fleetwood Mac's best.
"Gypsy" and "Gold Dust Woman" are really good.
"Songbird" is a beautiful song
Two songs from "Tusk" that I think are good that I didn't see mentioned are "Brown Eyes" and "Beautiful Child"
"Oh Daddy" from Rumours ages well
And don't forget "Dust" from "Bare Trees", a very beautiful song.  The song "Bare Trees" is good too.
And does anyone remember the song "Oh Well" from "Then Play On" with the man riding the white horse on the album front? (not one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs but the first I remember hearing by them).
