Subject: What was your favorite 1960-1970 car?

What was your favorite car from the 1960-1970's.  My first car was a 1969 GTO.

I would have to go with my husbands (then boyfriend) 1969 Z28 Camaro. He bought it in 1977 and he rebuilt it, it had one heck of a racing motor in it.

As a kid in the 70s, I'd have to say the Corvette was my favorite.  I like the MG, too... can't believe how small they were!

Without a doubt, 1964 Ford Mustang.  Coolest car ever made.  Second place would be The Monkeemobile.  Very cool GTO.

Do you mean all of 60s-70s?  (I wonder cuz this is a '70s board!)

Anyway, if it's '70s, no question - my beloved Lincolns.  It mite be a tight match between my '77-'79 TCs and the marvelous '70-'71 Mark III, then the '77-'79 Mark Vs, '75-'76 TCs (exactly same as later except duller grille).

I also liked the mates to those - the T-Birds and Cougars of the late '70s.

I hope I'm not forgetting any....

Quoting:
1967 Chevelle

Though my husband had the 69 camaro Z28, I always wanted a 66 Chevelle convertable, dark blue or candy apple red. I know I will never have one in my lifetime but I can dream. Lets face it, were there really any nice cars in the 70's? All I can remember was the jokes, Vegas, Pintos, Mavericks........... As someone else said, Corvettes, when I was about 12 that was the car I wanted and dreamed of, but as the years went on I was lucky enough to know someone with one and I must admit I hated the way the drive and to top it off it is made of fiberglass, not very safe in my opinion. We used to joke that after an accident you could sweep up whats left of the vette.

:(  Actually I think there were many nice 1s - but yeah, probably not as many %-wise as other decades.  But the biggies were pretty hot for the most part.  Early American attempts to make small cars often are disasters, even aesthetically; we just don't understand small.  But we understand big like no1.  And hence my love for the Lincolns, etc.

As much as is made over Pintos (also, by extension, the oft-forgotten Bobcat), I never actually heard of any problem w/them in "real life".  We had a Bobcat.  Maybe not the greatest car, but the flap by the scare-mongers like Nader was probably way overblown from what I ever heard of - including the years since its day.

We had a used Pinto wagon. It got my husband back and forth to work in the early 80's till he totaled it. We had two Lincolns also, a 79 Town car , an 84 Mark IV, both were boats. My sisters and her husband are diehard Lincoln people, that is what they have been driving for many ,many years.

Tough to pick just one!  There are plenty I'd like...

1965 Chevy II Nova: Get it with the fire-breathing fuel-injected 365HP Corvette engine, the 4-speed, & NOTHING else--rubber floor mats, wheel center-caps, vinyl bench seat.  Probably GM's best sleeper.

1970 Nova COPO: A special-order-only deal, get the hell-roaring, high-winding, solid-lifter 370HP LT-1 350 (just like the Z-28), the 4-speed, and stuff it in a zero-option Nova that is a good 600lbs lighter than a Camaro.  Sounds like fun, yes?

1968 Dodge Dart GSS: take 1 lightweight Dodge Dart.  Install 1 440 cubic inch V8 from the larger Charger.  Mix thoroughly.  Go Corvette-hunting. :)

1969 Hurst SC/Rambler: Stuff a 315HP 390 V8 in an otherwise-mundane rambler.  Add the wildest paint scheme ever seen from a factory.  http://www.musclecarplanet.com/History/AMC_Scrambler.jpg  Yikes.

1970 AMC Rebel Machine: 325HP in the midsize Rebel body, and a paint scheme only slightly tamer than the SC/Rambler.http://www.seriouswheels.com/images/a_1970_American_Motors_Rebel_Machine.jpg  The scary part is, this is the MILDER paint job.
