Subject: Who Remembers Gino Vannelli?

Written By: Joeybear on 12/04/03 at 08:31 p.m.

Forgive me if this topic has been posted before, but does anyone remember him and his band?

His music was easily among the most underrated of the decade, because of his "pretty boy" image with the ladies.
While Yes and ELP were bringing synthesizers to the forefront, Gino and the guys were also doing it, but in a much more jazzy and sophisticated way.

So.... does anyone remember?

Yes, I remember Gino.  My favorite album of his is "Big Dreamers Never Sleep."  Every song is a gem!  He never got the credit he deserved.  I still love hearing that one, especially "Wild Horses."   8)

The album he made in about 1978 or 79 was a good one, lots of good songs, it had "I don't wanna stop."  Think it was the first album after he shaved off his mushstash.

I don't think so.  He was still around in the late 80's.  I only liked his songs "Black Cars" "Just A Motion Away" which were 80's songs... sorry.

I don't know if I still do or not but I had the album "Powerful People" that I believe came out in 1974.  It had "You Gotta Move" on it. It got to #22.  I liked it, but not enough to buy the album until I heard it on the radio when I was starting out on a long trip by car to Texas.  That made me want to get the album and I did when I got back.

He is still around. Google him.

He's got a good career in Canada.

He recently made an in-store appearance at a record store in Woodbridge, Ontario.  That's a suburb of Toronto known for 'Ginos' and 'Ginas'....ie...lot's of Italian-Canadian people in the community.

He's not my type, but he's still in very good shape. :)
