That actress was a Miss America contestant, I believe Miss Nevada in the early '60s.  Not sure.  She was definitely hotter than Ginger.  Ginger was neurotic bimbo, Mary Ann had it going on.  Anybody have the hots for Mrs. Howell?  :P

I got the facts about the whole bunch:

Gilligan & Skipper: International dope runners via The Minnow, wanted by the Feds.
Mr. and Mr. Howell: Financiers of the international dope trade, they have the goods on the military's heroin dealings in Vietnam.
Professor: Defense dept. physicist, leaked atomic secrets to the Russians.
Mary Ann: Member of the Weather Underground, wanted in several campus bombings.
Ginger: Failed Hollywood starlet turned high-priced Mafia whore, has the goods on JFK and RFK, CIA is gunning for her.

They staged the crash to get out of circulation for a while.

OK, it's a bit anachronistic, but no less plausible than sleeping in a hammock for five years with no back problems, or being stuck on an island with an endless supply of grooming impliments, or....well, you get the general idea!  ;)

If they'd killed Gilligan, they'd have gotten off that island within the week.  ;)

LOL!

Pesonally, it's one of my least favorite shows of all time.
It would still be bad if it was done today. (Remember "Woops!", bad show, cool name)

LOL Too funny.

Dawn Wells still looks great-Tina Louise looks awful. She doesn't want anything to do with Ginger/Gilligan's Island. With everything she has done, everyone only remembers Ginger.

I like Dawn Wells commercial for Western Union. I thought it was very cute.

Note the irony: On the show they never got off the island, and in their careers, they never got off the island.
I was a fan of Bob Denver as Maynard G. Crebs on "Dobie Gillis."  TV's attempt at a beatnik.  No surprise, Bob Denver delighted in the manifestations of the ganja herb.  You had to figure Gilligan for a pot smoker.  Nice guy, but always spacing out and screwing up.  Professor showed him how to cut hybrids for potency. ;D

Cheap components in their coconut radio kept letting them down.  ;D

Wicked-> That's too funny.  I had a friend who did the same thing when he was in high school.  The teacher was a bit taken aback but was impressed enough to give him a good mark for originality.. it probably wasn't what he expected.  :D

I forgot how they explained the rescue when they made a GI reunion TV-movie in the '70s in which they all got together to commemorate their marooning with a 3-hour cruise.  The boat hits a big storm.  You wouldn't BELIEVE what happened next! :P

They crash & get marooned on the very same island..

By the by, Sherwood Schwartz (producer) said had the show gone one more season, they probably would have gotten off the island (written a finale), but the new CBS pres, loved Gunsmoke and made sure it came back for the next season at the expense of GI...
Oh well, if it were not for the end of GI there might have not been the Brady Bunch...Marcia, Marcia, Marcia got ME through puberty. ;D

I liked the Bradys when I was a kid, but I've had an aversion to the reruns my entire adult life.  I can't watch it for more than 30 seconds before I gotta hit the remote.  It makes my CRINGE.  I quote Weird Al:

Quoting:Say, give it up, give it up, television's taking its toll
That's enought, that's enough, gimme the remote controll
I been nice, I been good, please don't do this to me
Turn it off, turn it off, I don't want to have to see

The Brady Bunch
Not The Brady Bunch
Well, The Brady Bunch
Yeah, The Brady BunchEnd Quote

On the other hand, I watch enough BB to have favorite episodes, which are:
The one in which the girls bet the boys the can't spend the night in the attic.

The one in which Greg gets hooked up with the rock promoters who've marked him as the next pop sensation.

The one in which Greg sets Peter up with a fake moustache and takes him on a double date.

The one in which Cindy and Bobby try to break the teeter-tottering record.

The one in which Greg let's the quarterback from Farview High steal Central's playbook.  It's a fake playbook!

The one in which Peter picks Jesse James as a hero to write a school essay about.

Uh, I think I'd better clam up! :-X

I know what you mean, can't watch more than about a minute of BB..but thats because I seen and know every episode by heart (yes, scary).
One of my favorites is the "Johnny Bravo" episode too, it rings a little too true for me nowadays with the likes of Justin Timberlake and such claiming to be "rock stars" ::), plus did the Cartoon Network show of the same name get it from the BB episode?
The episode when they visit Kings Island (in Cinciy, OH?) is another of my faves.
I, uh, noticed that Jan had, um, "grown up" when Marcia and Jan were running to get Mikes plans back..Um, didn't somebody at standards and practices notice they weren't wearing bras?
What was with Jan's mental state anyway? She had some serious issues (a magazine rack full of issues). She could of been the early poster child for prozac..
Oh well, Marica, & then Jan(?don't laugh, remember the band called, I think, Eve's Plum?) got me through puberty..well until Wonder Woman came on anyway..

That was Bobby by the way. But, I wouldn't know because I NEVER watched the show.  ;)  Ok, I confessed-had to watch it every Friday night. There was one episode where they tried to scare prospective buyers of the house and had a "ghost" come down the stairs. My sisters and I tried to do that to scare another sister who just ended up laughing at the whole incident.

Getting back to GI, they had a movies or something where the island was turned into a resort-sort of like Fantasy Island meets Gilligan's Island. Does anyone remember these?

I remember that episode.  I too planned a Brady scheme, inspired by the ghost-in-the-attic prank.  We were going to scare the living daylights out of some kid we didn't like, but it never got past the drawing board!

Sorry, Cat, missed 'em.  I liked the line in "Cast Away" when Tom Hanks says, "Coconut milk is a natural laxitive.  Things Gilligan never told you."  Among the million things a kid would question about the GI premise is sewage.  What did they do about that?

I'm with you, as I got a little older, Jan started to look good..but her mental state worried me..I guess it shouldn't, I think I every girl I've dated had a little of Jan's mental issues in her.. ;)

We had 6 kids in our family. So we used to "play" the Brady Bunch. My only brother (who was the oldest) got be Greg. Two of my sisters were Peter and Bobby. Being the youngest, I was Cindy.

We also did the same thing with the Addams Family. I was Wednesday. I would always laugh at one sister being Uncle Fester and another one being Cousin It-but yet the other (in fact the pretty one-who I think looks like Jane Seymour) was Pugsley.
