Subject: Starsky and Hutch

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone has heard about the new movie coming out called Starsky and Hutch. It has a cool new 70's vibe to it. Check out the trailer! http://starskyandhutchmovie.warnerbros.com/

Might be one of the few remakes ("The Fugitive", "Mission Impossible") that's as good as the original.  8)

We'll see, it'll be hard for this to be done straight without getting campy (which is no problem with me)...you have to admit the show is pretty dated now...with characters like "Huggy Bear", and two sometimes "undercover" cops driving around in a "stealthy" bright red (w/white stripe) Ford Gran Turino ::), jumping on car hoods and such, its begging to be sent up as a satire...actually if you remember, the Beastie Boys already did a spoof of Starsky & Hutch, the video for "Sabatoge".

I had a toy model of the S&H red Grande Turino with the white stripe.  That was coool!
That Beastie Boys video was HILARIOUS! It was more than a spoof of S&H, but the whole genre of shoot 'em up '70s cops with BIG OLD 'staches!
I'm trying to remember, did they make a Saturday morning cartoon version of Starsky & Hutch?
Ask yourself, were Starsky & Hutch really anymore ridiculous than Crockett & Tubbs?

Uh, I can barely remember watching "Starsky & Hutch" when I was younger.  But I don't recall it being silly comedy as seen in the commercial for the upcoming movie.

I think this generation has chosen another 70's show to trash ("Charlies Angels" "Brady Bunch" etc..)  :P >:(

I hate to think what's next.

Best not to say. It might leak into rumors & ideas.  :)

Why not a remake of a really bad show like "Tabitha" , lame "Bewitched" spinoff,or "Supertrain". And see if it would turn into a huge success or a entire flop that would make "Gigli" look like an Oscar winner.  ::)

Unfortunately, "Bewitched" is in the works of being a remake featuring Nicole Kidman. That I might want to see. Just for Nicole Kidman's performance of Samantha Stevens.

A Hollywood sexy version of Mister Ed.  Perhaps not.

You speak "trashing" Starsky & Hutch, but we must bear in mind, this was not the highest televisual art.  As a previous poster pointed out, we're talking undercover cops who go peeling and squealing around town in a candy-apple Grand Turino with a white Nike swoosh on it. :D

Never watched more than a channel click's worth or maybe a commercial break's 60 seconds of the old Starsky/Hutch.  I liked, Don't give up on me baby by David Soule.

The movie's a spoof! Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are the stars so you know's going to be funny. Just look at it as what it truly is - a spoof; nothing more. ;D

But there's a tv remake on the works with Sherman Hemsley, OF "The Jeffersons", doing the voice of the horse. No joke.
It won't be "sexy", but rely on crass humor. Since it's picked up by Fox, I don't want to know.  :P

Crass humor, on FOX?! No, couldn't be... ::)
Maybe they should make it "Mrs Ed", w/a female horse, w/Anna Nicole for the voice. It would be a reality show and have other horses (scantily clad in sexy leggings of course) singing/competing to be the "American Horse Idol"...the judges would be fomer washed up amimated celebs from the 80's like Troy Mclure, My Little Pony, & He Man...
I know what you're thinking, yes I missed my calling as a programming executive. ;D

Back in the 1970’s, SNL did a spoof of Starsky & Hutch (Belushi & Ackroid).  I remember that it was focused on making fun of how violent S & H was -- there was a scene which resembled the stairs scene in The Pilot, and then S or H tells the bad guy, “Stop or I’ll shoot!” so the bad guy stops and puts his hands up, and S or H (or both) shoots him anyway.
