Subject: Terry Bradshaw and Redman Tobacco

Anyone remember the commerical for Redman Chewing Tobacco? I'm pretty sure it aired in the latter part of the '70's.

Anyway, at the end of the commercial Bradshaw sings.  He was soooo far off-tune that it was hilarious.  At the time, I couldn't believe any company would let a voice that bad, sing their jingle.  As Andy Kaufman would say, "It was so bad ... it was terrible."

I think Bradshaw released a country album shortly after.  He actually thought he could sing!  It flopped.

"Redman, pick of the pro --- woes !"  ;D

Was that Redman ad on TV or radio?  I would have thought chewing tobacco ads would have been proscribed along with cigarettes by the '70s.

Anyway, Bradshaw's musical appearances is recent Lond Distance service commercials ("yeah, yeah, rock 'n roll baby!), are undoubtedly a tongue in cheek reference back to those days.

It was TV commercial.  They might have run it on radio, too, but I don't remember it.

I think cigarette ads were banned, but a loophole allowed them to run ads like Little Winchesters.  Earl Campbell was endorsing Skoal for awhile after they banned cigarette ads, too.
