Subject: Fall of Saigon, Death of Elvis...

On the 80s and 90s sites, I have pages devoted to the OJ Simpson verdict and the Challenger explosion.. I want a similar event from the 70s that was something everyone could remember happening.. similar to say Kennedy's assasination or the first moon landing..

the two I thought of as possible contenders were the Fall of Saigon (with the airlifts from the top of the embassy building) and the Death of the King, Elvis... what do you think?

For me, the resignation of Nixon has to be at the top of the list. Everyone remembers it and more importantly, it (coupled with Vietnam) ushered in the beginning of outright distrust of politicians. From then on, there was a new level of cynicism. For those of us too young to know any earlier president, it impossible to seperate politics and politicians from lies.

I have the death of Elvis on beta the news reports but I havent been able to find that tape in quite some time. I did research on the Fall of Saigon, the anniversary being 25 years very soon so I have all the complete newscasts from back then on tape too.
