Hello

I am working on a fashion feature for Britannica.com (the Internet service from Encylopaedia Britannica). The feature would include a fashion and hair memories section, and it would be great to get some good hair or clothes "horror stories" from people.

Also, any exciting resources that you have come across would be great.

Thanks

Hi - a leisure suit is a man's cheesy polyester pantsuit, with wide lapels, and usually a terrible color or pattern. Think Rodney Dangerfield in "Easy Money" - when he gets dressed up, it's in a leisure suit.

I remember a few things vividly from my childhood in the 70's that are, retrospect, horrid, but many of them are coming back in style. Go figure.

- Dittos jeans - especially the "saddle seat" style - Gauze Angel shirts - Satin jackets - Feathered hair on girls - permed hair on guys - "Get There" shoes by Famolare - had a wavy sole and a squared off toe. - Puka shell necklaces - Big bell Levi's jeans and cords - Big, puffy down jackets - Rabbit fur jackets - Angel Flight and parachute pants (for guys)

the list goes on and on.....

Thanks for that. I'll try the 80s site. What exactly is the Leisure suit.

As for my name - my parents are Irish (Cavan), so I'm not sure about the Indian blood.
