Subject: K-Tel

They're nothing like they used to be. They should go back to old management. Where would I find some of those wonderful (ORIGINAL) compilations nowadays? Used in decent condition would be fine.

Agreed on the current compilations put out by the label, but you do know that they faced bankruptcy in 1984-85, right???

Simply put, hit the used record stores out there! That's the way I've done it - I've been collecting original K-tel compilations for almost 15 years now. Have almost every title (well over 100) in the pop/rock and dance/disco genres released by the label from 1977-85 on cassette, and about half of those on 8-track as well. :-) I'm not as big on the country comps. Have well over 200 U.S. K-tel comps from the '70s and '80s altogether, in addition to several dozen imports (most from Canada). Think I'll pull out my copy of "Hot Nights & City Lights" now... :-)

Subject: Re: A great compilation is "Disco Fire".

It has the disco version of "Star Wars" by Meco and "Rocky"'s "Gonna Fly Now". Also, one of my ultimate favorites - "Let's Go Chant". I could go on and on because it's a double album chock full of hits, but work calls.
