Anyone have a long, lost favorite radio station that is not around today that ruled back in the 70's? Mine were JB-105 in Providence, RI, WVBF and WRKO in Boston.

WTIX the mighty 690 in New Orleans. They were THE station to listen to back in the 70s. They went oldies in the 80s (they even carried Dr Demento for a while), then they went talk in the 90s. Now they're back on 94.3 FM with the original jingles and some of the original DJs. You can listen to "Tix" from the 60s at www.reelradio.com.

How could I forget that station. I've listened to that station for 6 or 7yrs. DJs' like the Real Robert Mitchell, "Skinny" Tommy Chaney, Bob "The Oldies King" Walker were energeric, magical, professional, humorous and so forth. I too was upset over the change in the 90's along with the DJs' going their seperate ways. I have to correct you, none of the DJs' are @ the re-vamped 'TIX FM 94.3. I met Mitchell 3yrs. ago and asked him about the new 'TIX FM, he said, "It sucks". I guess he had some bad memories of that station during its last days. Now, he's doing much better @ WTKL95.7FM in the morning as he always do. He's had some health problems recently along with laser eye surgery, he's doing fine. Bob is working the afternoon show as well as for Tommy, according to Bob, he lives in Houston and the get along fine. The new station are featuring DJs that used for worked for the once popular station, WRNO 99.5 Another popular station that started in the 60's by the Costello Bros. Michael & Joesph (who passed away about 5 or 6rs ago) other popular DJs were "Hot" Rod Glenn, Bobby Reno (who has a habit of making mistakes of getting the year of the song that came out), Dave (I think it's Martin) boy he was a crazy one I couldn't stop laughing at his antics along "Weird Wayne" Watkins, Terry Knight and his Rock & Roll Flight To Midnight which lead to the deep voice of Warren "with you" Monte and The Album Hour. This is where I got a lot of musical knowledge & albums from. The station was AOR (ALBUM ORIENTED ROCK) but in the last part of the '80s they got critized for going a little Top 40 even playing American Top 40 which didn't bother me a bit.
