Subject: Product slogan?

Written By: Pooh on 3/13/2001 at 11:43 p.m.

Does anyone out there know what food this slogan accompanied?

Mothers love it;
Kids ask for it by name.

I need to know! Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it was peanut butter, either Skippy or Jif.

I know it wasn't JIF.
I'm not sure about Skippy. I called the Skippy 1-800 number and they didn't know, but are relaying my question to their corporate office. I am awaiting a response from them. You aren't the first person to guess this. We'll see.

I am on the phone with Kraft to see if it was associated with their Macaroni and Cheese.
I'm waiting for their corporate office to get back to me...

Is it the same as "Kids love it, mothers approve."? No, that's a whole different add.

I think it comes from something with vitamins. Maybe like Flinstone's. No, I think it's a drink, like Ovaltine. Yeah, I think Ovaltine. I still use it instead of chocolate milk for my kid because of the vitamins.

Hope my rambling helps. Bye.

Thanks for your input.
As it turns out, I called a number of corporate headquarters (General Mills--for KIX cereal, Skippy, JIF, Kraft-- for marcaroni & cheese)
and I just received a phone call back from the makers of Ovaltine,

Himmel Nutrition Inc
Lantana, FL 33462
800-442-0099

According to the spokesperson's supervisor, the slogan "Mothers love it, Kids ask for it by name" was in fact used by Ovaltine. According to them, it was last used during the 1960's.

Their current slogans are:
"More Ovaltine, Please!" and
"tastes great; great for you"

PS: KIX's slogan is "Kid-Tested, Mother-Approved!"

Subject: "I'd like to buy the world a Coke."

Thanx Pooh. After I posted that response I looked around the web searching slogans. This sounds familiar, how about "Tastes so good cats ask for it by name." Meow Mix. I came apon a couple of cool sites. You may have stumbled apon them in your search but I'll leave the links, they were interesting.

The 1971 Coke campain slogan brought me a good lil' feeling from the past, and I've ben singing it in my head for an hour. A site with all things Coke including the past slogans all the way back.

And other slogans at

Thanx.
