Subject: Please help with song title?

Written By: Lisa Brown on 6/9/2001 at 10:57 a.m.

I'm not 100% sure when I heard this song, but I remember it from the radio when I was a kid, so I'm placing it (guessing, but could easily be wrong) in the mid to late seventies. I suppose I'd have to call this country, though it's got a sort of "BJ Thomas" sound to it, so pop might fit as well. As usual, I don't know the title or the artist, and only some of the lyrics, and I hope someone recognises this because if I know what it *is* I might be able to find it on a various artists re-release or something. Anyway, here goes...
"...and it's a song in the night and it feels so right lying next to you (background-'next to you.') When you touch me this way, the music plays the whole night through. Love's melody seranades me when you hold me tight (background-'hold me tight.') I hear violins, and love begins with a song in the night..."
There--that's all I can remember. I've searched several online music stores for "Song In The Night" (I took a stab in the dark at the title) but came up with nothing.
Does anyone have any idea what this song is called and/or who sang it?
Thanks,
Lisa Brown

I would say it is "A Song In The Night" by Johnny Duncan. His cousins were Dan Seals (of England Dan And John Ford Coley ) and Jim Seals (of Seals And Croft).

Here is a link to hear a clip:

I can't seem to get the clip to play, but I found clips of other Johnny Duncan songs, and that sure sounds like my guy. I can get it on CD, too, which really made me happy.
Thanks so much--my sanity was (yet again) at risk. I've never been disappointed when I've asked a question here; you guys (and girls!) are great.
