Subject: Faith Hill Vs. Janis Joplin

Written By: X on 7/9/2001 at 7:08 p.m.

On Faith Hill's first album she did a remake of Janis Joplin's "Piece Of My Heart". I think Faith's version is FAR superior. And there are at least 4 reasons why Faith is superior to Janis: (1) Faith is a very beautiful woman; Janis was a mess. (2) When Faith sings that song, you KNOW she's a woman; Janis sounded like a man. (3) Janis was a dope addict. (4) Faith is alive!

Well, I beg to differ. Janis Joplin was a trailblazer - opening doors to the rock and roll industry for the women who followed her. Her music was, and continues to be, a stunning combination of raw emotion and sheer talent; her legacy based on these attributes rather than physical appearances. Janis left her mark in the world of rock and will always be revered and remembered by those of us who appreciate good music. Will you be able to say the same of Ms. Hill 30 years after her death?
