Subject: song and artist

Does anyone know a song, I believe it is titled "Dance With Me", and the artist. I believe it's from the late 70's early 80's maybe. Partial lyrics are:

If you're feeling sad and blue
Come on and dance with me
I can make your dreams come true
Come on and dance with me

Let your mind and your body be free
Dance with me

Your "mystery song" is "Dance With Me" by Peter Brown, a big hit here in the U.S. in the Summer of '78. It was off his 1977 album, "A Fantasy Love Affair". Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S. I have the cassette myself...

BTW, although he is white, Brown actually had his biggest success on the r&b charts from the late '70s-mid '80s...

cdnow.com has low stock of "A Fantasy Love Affair" on CD on Collectables Records (I don't know if that's a U.S. label or not). See link below

Collectables is a U.S. label, and that's the album, alright. Wasn't aware they'd re-issued it. I stand corrected on the CD availability...

It was also in an excellent little compilation called "Disco Fire" with an array of Disco hits that are hardly ever played anywhere. That makes it my favorite 70's compilation LP. Too bad it would never be re-issued in CD format.
Of course, it was by K-Tel.

Yep, I'm quite familiar w/ that one. Came out in 1978. It was a 2-LP/2-8-track/2-cassette set of disco classics. I have both the cassette and 8-track versions. In addition to "Dance With Me", my other two personal faves featured on that set are "Dance Across the Floor" by Jimmy "Bo" Horne and "Devil's Gun" by C.J. & Co...

It's nice to see someone else with the same comp.! Just curious, Do you like the song "Ma Baker? Almost everyone I know never liked it. I like it enough to let the record play through it.

My faves right off are "Let's All Chant" and "Gonna Fly Now" (I LOVE the movie ROCKY).

Nope, never been a huge fan of Boney M - then again, they were assembled by Frank Farian, the same guy who went on to create Milli Vanilli in the late '80s (although I can tolerate most of their stuff)...

"Let's All Chant" by the Michael Zager Band is actually fourth on my list of songs off that particular compilation...

IMO, "Gonna Fly Now" got a bit overplayed back in the day - heck, there were actually FOUR versions of that song that made the pop chart in 1977 (Bill Conti, Maynard Ferguson, Current, and Rhythm Heritage)! I'll admit I don't hear it much anymore, though...
