How about Meco's "Star Wars" rendition?
I actually have the CD where Meco did many of the movie's music in Disco style. Not bad. Definitely unique. They also did the "Ewok Celebration" Disco style which was popular....Ooops! This is an 80's board topic. See ya there!

I assume you're referring to his 1977 album, "Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk"; if so, I have it on casette. Been a while since I listened to it, though. As much as I've always loved the original "Star Wars" trilogy, his hit "Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band" was another song that was wa-a-ay overplayed back in the day, IMO...

Don't have Meco's version of "Ewok Celebration", and probably haven't heard it since about 1984! I'm pretty sure that one was only issued as a single. (Of course, only the original as heard in the movie and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra w/ John Williams is included on the "Return of the Jedi" soundtrack - which I do have...)

However, if you really want some laughs (and something for the kiddies), track down Meco's 1980 album, "Christmas in the Stars/Star Wars Christmas Album". (I have two copies on cassette, and it was finally re-issued on CD here in the U.S. a few years ago - see link to listing on "amazon.com" below.) It features his minor hit from the Fall of '80, "What Can You Get a Wookiee for Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb?)" (actually credited to "The Star Wars Intergalactic Droid Choir & Chorale" on the single). The rest of the songs on the album are just as cringe-inducing - so bad, it's good, LOL!

I came. I saw.
You're probably the only person who knows or remembers that "Christmas in the Stars/Star Wars Christmas Album". LOL! Indeed, it made me crrrringe.

A friend of mine had it all those years ago. It was a fun time. I didn't even remember that until just now. Don't know if I'd ever get it, though. Thanks for the memories!
