I like pretty much all the shows listed - be kind of hard for me to pick one.

In the end I went for "Happy Days"

I have to add that All In The Family and particularly Eight Is Enough make me cringe even when I see the titles....

Dick Van Patten (ugghh).....

In terms of being realistic, I would have to go for the Waltons. The Partridge Family (like the Waltons) was based on a real family but totally unrealistic. In terms of just plain entertainment value, I will have to go with Happy Days.

I loved Happy Days....remember the one about Potsie and Ralph doing "Lip-Ups" on the pinball machine?  Later they were stuck inside Arnold's so they broke open the pay-toilet biox for change....when caught Arnold came in and was shocked there was any money at all as he wondered out loud "Why not you crawl under?"  :D

Considering I owned several http://sc.groups.msn.com/tn/33/21/AlltypesofPhotos2/1/29.jpg There was only 1 family show for me and The Partridge Family was it.

Now, if you'd mentioned purple socks...I might've had to think about the Osmonds as well...http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/mini/small-smiley-018.gif

Loved Family.  Meredith Baxter Birney (as she was known at the time) played the character of a shallow, narcissistic woman so believably.

They were all good shows (with the exception of Brady Bunch - too whitebread for me!)

My fave is All in the Family, though.

Why did he hate Aunt Esther?

Esther and her family thought that Fred was not good for her younger sister. She said Lamont was the the only thing good out of it.  Not sure of specifics

If they just changed the script around I would've made amends with Aunt Esther And Fred. Then maybe the show would've been different.
