"Another Park, Another Sunday" (1974) has always been my Tom Johnston Doobie favorite. Now for a Michael McDonald Doobie song I'll go with "Dependin' on You" (1979).

A lot of Doobie fans don't care for the Michael McDonald era, but c'mon what would the late '70s be without that version of the Doobes?

(It's hard to believe The Doobie Brothers are from San Jose and not New Orleans)  ???

:D

Okay...McDonald is not so bad...I just like Tom better.  As for San Jose...I only know that thier hockey team is about to knock my Avs out of the playoffs.. :-\

Love all those... but would have to say "Take me in your Arms" from '75

Don't remember what Tom Johnston looked like (like I know Michael McDonald and the gray hair now) but he was fantastic.  Did he have long hair like..... I forget his first name? - last name was Simmons. My memory is really fading here.

The Tom Johnston era was definitely different than the MM era.

What ever happened to Tom Johnston, why did he leave the group, all of a sudden he was gone.

Michael McDonald or Michael McDonald's music direction of the group (less suburban and more urban) ?

???

Tom Johnston fell ill in 1975 and was replaced by McDonald while he recoverd...apparently Johnston then opted out for a while before returning in the late 80's ;)

Here's a funny little story to go along with that concert.  I had wanted to go to the concert but I had nobody to go with, as my boyfriend (who would later to become my husband) had sea duty at the time.  I asked my mom if she would go with me but she moaned and groaned saying, "I don't want to go to some loud rock concert!"  I told her that these guys were similar in style to The Eagles (whom she also loves), and finally convinced her to go.

Fast forward to the day of the show, and guess who was up in front of the stage dancing and having a grand ol' time?  My mother!!!  ;D 8)

And I didn't even realize until years after it's release, that Patrick Simmons (Lead Guitarist) is the lead singer on that one :D :)
