I could've been difficult and put 'The Day Before You Came' as an 'other'...

...but y'just gotta love 'Dancing Queen'

Incidentally, anyone remember a song called 'Movie Star' by Harpo? Came out about 1976 - fairly big in Europe...well, that's Agnetha & Frida on the backing vocals...I never knew that until yesterday...!

I remember that one...it's a really fast song.  I have it on their Gold album.  :)

Yes, 'Does Your Mother Know' had a lead vocal by Bjorn (the one normally without a beard...) - this was the only time one of the guys took the lead...although 'Honey Honey' does have a male 'break' on it...

Yep !  Big hit in Aus !

"You feel like Steve McQueen
When you're driving in your car
And you think you look like James Bond
When you're smoking your cigar
It's so bizarre, you think you are
A new kind of James Dean
But the the only thing we've ever seen of you
Was a commercial spot on the screen...
"

I'm 'familiar with it'  ;D

Harpo had another hit here with "Horoscope"  ;)

I voted for Take a Chance on Me followed by Momma Mia. Dancing Queen really got over played, and over played and over played. I think it is still be over played.

I remember when I first heard Dancing Queen make its comeback in the '90s. It was summer 1996, I was at a bar and remember how odd/clever it was for the DJ to play Dancing Queen then he followed it with Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails.

A very odd song combo?  :o

To tell the truth, I like DQ more now than when it first came out.   ;)

I voted for "The Name Of The Game".
The list of their songs that Fuss put together here reveals the Abba dichotomy - some really cheesy pop songs (which I never really enjoyed) and others that are genuine classics.

I don't this that photo you posted is actually Abba is it Fuss? It looks more like one of the tribute bands like Bjorn Again.

AH !  You are first person to mention this in the thread  :)  Well done maddog, it is indeed Bjorn Again.

And congrats to Mooey for pointing it out about 3.86 seconds after I had posted it originally  ;D :P

As for Cheesy songs, would I be right in assuming they only released "Bang A Boomerang" in Australia  ???  The title of, to which I must add  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)  :( ::)

Due to a wonderful attack of good sense, we in Britain were never subjected to it as a single release...

...but I gather our American friends had it tucked away on the other side of 'I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do'...

To me, "Abba" is like Lay's Potato Chips: it's impossible to choose only one song!  ;)

My Faves: Voulez-Vous
              Waterloo
              Take a Chance on Me
              Does Your Mother Know?

And hey, what about Super Trooper?  That was their last really upbeat-sounding song.  "Winner Takes it All" is good but it has such a tragic knell to it . . . you knew the end was near for this great band.  :\'(

What about "Rock Me", Paul ?  That has Bjorn singing lead ?

Actually, Bjorn also sang lead on WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE ME?, a track from Arrival (1976).  The song was re-worked (and improved) as HAPPY HAWAII, which at least in the US was a flip to DANCING QUEEN (their only US #1, BTW)

As for favorite song, it would have to be EAGLE.

At the risk of sounding too much like John Cleese (in 'The Life Of Brian' natch...)

Okay, apart from 'Rock Me' and 'Why Did It Have To Be Me' and the male break in 'Honey Honey'...the only time an Abba male sang lead was on 'Does Your Mother Know'...(!)
