Great Post!!  Starting Over - it was my first time hearing a John Lennon solo - ok I was 9.  When I heard it - in the beginning it reminded me of David Bowie.

ANYbody being shot is just wrong. The ONLY problem I had with John is that he basically forgot about his first son Julian...other than that, I respected what he treid to do in the name of peace.

Other on 2: Nobody Told Me is my favorite and (ooh I'm gonna get it now) though I haven't heard his version of "I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier", Alice in Chains' cover is excellent (it's from the bootleg "Working Class Heros").

Technically not 1970's, but I LOVE Give Peace A Chance.

From the '70s Id pick Stand By Me and Happy Xmas (War Is Over), even though Yoko's voice on it really grates on me.
