Other:
Deacon Blue
Drink scotch whiskey all night long, and die behind the wheel
For a very '70s time, see the movie "FM," featuring Alex Karras, Martin Mull, and Cleavon Little.  Might be hard to find, worth searching out.

Now, who knows where the name "Steely Dan" comes from?

F ew people know that before Steely Dan became Steely Dan, the boys performed and toured under 7,566 other names as part of a test marketing research investigation. I did a little more investigating and found this out:

With Fagen on keyboards and vocals and Becker on bass, they decide to sign up guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and drummer Jim Hodder. With the core band recruited, Donald and Walter need a name for their group. Since both of them were avid readers of 1950's "Beat" literature, they decided to name the band "Steely Dan" after a dildo in William Burrough's "Naked Lunch."  :D

My first time visiting this site, so I havent peeked to see if you've gotten an answer to this yet  but Mickey Thomas who also charted several times with Jefferson Starship, and also served as lead vocalist for the Elvin Bishop Group on "Fooled Around and Fell In Love" in '75 or '76
