Great Poll, mandamoo!!   ;)

I forgot how much I like LRB.   ;D

I like their songs in this order...

#1
Help Is on Its Way (1977)
#2
Lady (1979)
#3
Reminiscing (1978)
#4
Cool Change (1979)

"Help Is on Its Way" managed to find its way into a commercial a couple of years ago, and I think it was for Mail Boxes, Etc.?

;D

Fine band...but alas, once again, meant nothing over here...!!

'Reminiscing' is my choice, with 'Help Is On Its Way' as a significant second...

Does that little undecided ( :-\\ ) emoticon best describe how you felt at the time ?

What year+month are you talking about? Any particular song come to mind that helped you when you were down, or at least one you could relate to?

Later...

Where would over here be?

Good choices for someone not too familiar with them!

LRB had a unique sound (and some good lyrics) in the late '70s and early '80s. A good import from Australia.

'Over here' is Blighty, guv'nor...apologies - I do make the honest mistake of assuming everyone knows where I'm at these days...

Heh!, I can see your point there...! Reason why I'm familiar with them is because when I started 'investigating' past American music, this lot were pretty difficult to ignore!

But why this country did ignore 'em remains something of a mystery...

Oh gosh, I like all of their songs!  This was tough, but I chose "Cool Change" as my favorite.  "Help Is On Its Way" and "It's A Long Way There" tied for second.  8)

It was shortly after I filed for divorce....I still have one son here who I see a lot but my other 3 are in Utah....Rich is married, Paul is looking and Brian is a freshman in high school!
When I used to get really down....which I still sometimes do, music has always been my friend. I guess I stole that from Morrison and The Doors song "When The Music's Over" anyway...I have a hard time letting the past go sometimes and music actually seems to help me deal better. Thanks for asking, zcrito....I hope you don't regret it though ::)

Sloppy turn of phrase by me, Fuss and mandamoo - that should've read 'past American hits...' (or words to that effect...!!)

Apologies...it was a long day yesterday...!!

My self-inflicted punishment is to listen to a Whitney Houston LP all the way through...(Aargh!)

Had to go with "Other" - "Lonesome Loser" is such a fun song that I would hear on the radio for years, but only recently found out who it was. Clearly shows the 70's singer-songwriter sound in the early stages of giving way to 80's pop.

I also like the heavy (for them) "Night Owls" and one of their last hits, 1982's "The Other Guy".

BUt choosing is difficult!

We want to cover them in the band...but no one can choose so right now we don't
have any...it's so stupid.

Reminiscing is one of my all-time favorite songs -- excellent lyrics imo.  They're all good though.
