Subject: need help re: 70s literature
Written By: toriwc on 05/16/04 at 9:16 pm
I am an 8th grade English teacher, and my school is going to be doing a theme unit for the whole grade revolving around the 1970's. During that week, I am to somehow tie the 1970's into my curriculum. I am finding that I have two problems. One, I was born at the tail end of the decade, therefore my knowledge is pretty much limited to what is in history books. Two, the 8th grade age group. I can think of some writers or texts I would like to explore, but I think the themes would be inappropriate for their age. If anyone has any ideas of something meaningful regarding the 1970's that I can share with 14 year olds, I would be very grateful. I am not opposed to films (as they are texts), but they would really have to be G rated or a mild PG. THANKS! ;D
